Auto GP champion Kevin Ceccon has chosen GP3 for his 2012 program, signing for Ocean Racing Technology's first assault on the series.
Italian driver Ceccon contested a partial GP2 campaign with Coloni in late 2011, as well as making his Formula 1 testing debut with Toro Rosso in the Abu Dhabi young driver sessions, after winning the Auto GP crown at the first attempt.
"I am very happy to face this challenge of the GP3 Series with Ocean Racing Technology, which is discovering this world at the same time I am," said Ceccon. "I think that with my experience, I could conceivably finish in the top three of the championship. I can't wait to get my start in the Silverstone tests, where I will be able to start working with the crew."
Established GP2 team Ocean has replaced Tech 1 in GP3 this year. Ceccon completes the line-up at Tiago Monteiro's squad, joining Carmen Jorda and Robert Cregan.
"Kevin is a very fast, professional driver," said Monteiro. "Despite his youth, he has the necessary experience to successfully enter the GP3 Series and to help his two teammates to evolve. It's a great pleasure to be able to count on him."
