The American Le Mans Series will breaks new broadcasting ground Saturday, as CBS Sports will air a special about the American Le Mans Series Monterey presented by Patrón. “Racing into Darkness” – produced by INTERSPORT, a multi-Emmy Award winning production company – will air at 1:30 p.m. ET Saturday May 29 on CBS.
INTERSPORT – which also produced "Truth in 24", an award-winning documentary of Audi's dramatic 2008 win at the 24 Hours of Le Mans over Peugeot – post-produced the Mazda Raceway program with NFL Films. According to the ALMS, the 90-minute program will be "an innovative departure from traditional live-race footage, as the docudrama will focus on character-driven storytelling."
Viewers will see exclusive behind-the-scenes footage and audio from Race Control and team officials, and drivers in the pits as the program delivers "a cinematic feel with poignant narrative." INTERSPORT crews gathered more than 45 interviews for background material at the series' Winter Test as well as its Sebring and Long Beach races. Specialty shoots and audio recordings were done with various race teams, drivers and team principals. INTERSPORT also created an “ALMS Spotlight Series” of short-subject videos and two movie trailers for use by promoters, teams and sponsors.
August's race from Mid-Ohio also will air on CBS Sports, with INTERSPORT again producing the broadcast.
