Adam Carroll will make his first GP2 start for three years at the Nurburgring this weekend after joining Super Nova Racing. The former A1GP champ and IndyCar driver replaces Luca Filippi, who has switched to the rival Coloni squad for the German Grand Prix support round.
"I am really looking forward to getting back into GP2 with Super Nova, I have great memories with the team," said Carroll.
"It's never easy as GP2 is a tough championship, and it's even tougher coming in midseason. I will just have to prove myself to people and come out with good results. Thank you to [team boss] David [Sears] for putting me back in the car, it feels good to be back."
Since taking Ireland to the 2008/09 A1GP title, Carroll has not had a regular drive. He made two appearances in IndyCar for AFS/Andretti Autosport last year and has made one-off appearances in Formula Renault 3.5 and AutoGP.
Carroll, 28, has a strong history in GP2, having won five times in total for Super Nova, and FMS. Fifth place in 2005 was his best championship result.
