Eric LichtensteinArgentina's Eric Lichtenstein will make the leap from Formula Ford to GP3 next season with the Carlin team.

The 18-year-old finished third in UK FFord in 2012, as he made his debut in European racing after previously competing in Formula Pilota China. He has already tested for Carlin's GP3 team in the post-season sessions at Jerez and Estoril.

Team boss Trevor Carlin predicted that Lichtenstein will be "a revelation" in GP3 next year.

"Considering that Eric has made the big step up from Formula Ford, the progress he has made in his first experience in an aero car has been very impressive," said Carlin. "He has been very trusting of the downforce and seems to have a natural feel for it. Importantly, he also responds very well to direction and the team have been very impressed with his attitude. I think he could be a real revelation next season."

Lichtenstein said he already felt settled at Carlin.

"I've had the chance to complete a few days with the team now and feel like everything fits together really well already," he said. "Carlin have a great reputation and it's exciting to look at their past drivers and make the next step in my career with them."

The team took third in this season's GP3 standings, winning three races with Antonio Felix da Costa and one with Will Buller.
