GP2 front-runner James Calado has been handed a 10-place grid penalty for a clash on lap one of the Sepang sprint race.
The ART driver was challenging feature race winner Fabio Leimer when he clipped the rear of the Racing Engineering machine in the braking zone for Turn 4. The impact broke Calado's front wing and sent him into Sam Bird and Julian Leal.
All three retired. Leimer finished 12th.
Race stewards have served Calado with a 10-place grid penalty. It will be applied in the feature race in Bahrain next month.
