James Calado GP3 ART 2011

James Calado will graduate to GP2 next year with the top-rank ART squad. The 22-year-old Briton finished second in this season's GP3 points with ART and will now step up to partner Esteban Gutierrez.

"It's absolutely tremendous news and really good to get things sewn up in good time," said Calado. "There's a lot of really strong competition for the ART GP2 seats so to get the drive alongside Gutierrez is very flattering and a real feather in my cap.

"GP2's going to be a lot tougher than GP3 for certain and Esteban, with a year's experience behind him, is going to be a pretty challenging teammate to race against. But as a team we showed what was possible in GP3 and I'm hopeful we can do the same in GP2."

Calado tested ART's GP2 car at Barcelona earlier this month and is likely to make his race debut at the non-championship Abu Dhabi Grand Prix support event at Yas Marina in November.

Prior to finishing second in GP3 last year, Calado was also a runner-up in British F3 and Formula Renault UK.
