Cadillac has revealed the new CTS-V Coupe ahead of its official launch at next week's Detroit auto show.

The muscular coupe is powered by the same 556hp, 551lb-ft supercharged 6.2-liter V8 engine as its sedan sibling, which is good for taking the car from 0-60mph in just 3.9sec. Power is sent from the engine to the rear wheels through a 6-speed manual dual-disc clutch or an optional Hydra-Matic 6-speed paddle-shift automatic.

Styling-wise, the CTS-V Coupe does away with a conventional B-pillar and the windscreen is angled at 62.3 degrees to increase its aerodynamic profile. A nearly horizontal rear window also serves the same purpose.

The track has been widened by almost 250mm over the sedan to boost handling control and the Coupe has also been lowered. The sedan's innovative Magnetic Ride Control is also carried over, which reads the road conditions to improve response time and precision.

Other features include lightweight Brembo brakes which have been specially developed for the car and 19-inch cast aluminum wheels equipped with Michelin Pilot Sport 2 performance tires that have also been specially developed for the Coupe.

Inside, the 2+2 Coupe gets 14-way adjustable Recaro performance seats and a new Saffron color option unique to the car. Equipment includes a 40gb navigation system and a satellite radio.

Bryan Nesbitt, Cadillac general manager, said, “The CTS-V Coupe marries our most potent and sophisticated technology with our most dramatic production design. This combination of visual and technical attributes is designed to create a very compelling choice for luxury sports car consumers.”

Production begins this summer, with the first deliveries set to start later this year. Pricing has yet to be revealed.
