Jenson ButtonWorld Champion Jenson Button says he is glad Silverstone will stay on the Formula 1 calendar from next season. Echoing the thoughts of McLaren teammate Lewis Hamilton, Button said he was delighted by the confirmation of a new deal by the Northamptonshire circuit.

"It's really good news. I'm so glad that they have been able to sort something out," Button told the BBC. "Silverstone is one of the great circuits.

"There are three really that stand out, and that's Spa, Suzuka and Silverstone. They are very fast, flowing, it's not an easy circuit to overtake but it's a lot of fun to drive and it's the perfect way to see a Formula 1 car on the limit. It's a spectacular circuit and there's a lot of history at Silverstone as well. I just can't wait to get back there because the British fans are so supportive. I'm very, very happy."

The British driver, who moves from Brawn to McLaren next season, insisted his new goal is now to become a multiple champion.

"That's exactly why I made the decision that I have," he said. "My dream was always to be a World Champion and to do it with the Brackley-based team, whatever name it was in the past. It was Brawn GP during the season.

"So, that was always my dream and now I need a new challenge. Changing teams and working alongside Lewis is definitely a challenge and I'm looking forward to it."
