Sebastien BuemiSebastien Buemi thinks Scuderia Toro Rosso can set its sights on being back in the points at the Hungarian Grand Prix thanks to the major upgrade planned for its car.

The team will become the last one to run with a double-decker diffuser, as other improvements will see the team's STR4 feature the same radical overhaul that sister squad Red Bull Racing ran at Silverstone.

Those updates, which technical director Giorgio Ascanelli has been working on for several weeks, should give the team a much-needed performance boost as it embarks on the second half of the campaign.

"Clearly all our eyes are focused on the Hungaroring where we should be able to close the gap more than at the last few races," Buemi told the official Formula 1 website. "At the moment we have every reason to believe that we will be competitive there and sneak some points.

He added: "We're expecting the double diffuser, a new nose – in fact almost half the car will be new. We are looking for a big step forward."

Buemi believes that Toro Rosso can return to the kind of form it displayed at the start of the year, where he and former teammate Sebastien Bourdais were able to score points.

"We haven't had many new parts on the car lately and everybody knows how important it is to constantly upgrade," he said. "We were just lacking pace, and as long as you are short of upgrades, you struggle to be faster. But from Budapest on I expect that we recover the form we had."
