Ryan Briscoe, Penske, Texas 2011Ryan Briscoe topped the second IndyCar practice session at Texas Motor Speedway ahead of Saturday's Twin 275s.

The Penske driver set his best lap at 214.373mph early on and was never bettered, with KV Racing's Takuma Sato shooting towards the top with a 213.898mph. Up to that point the best of the rest had been JR Hildebrand, who ended the evening in third place for Panther.

Fourth place for Will Power completed a relatively solid day's work for Penske, although Helio Castroneves was unable to find the pace to go any quicker than 13th fastest. Main rival Ganassi's cars were a few spots ahead, with Scott Dixon and Dario Franchitti finishing eighth and ninth respectively.

Surprise polesitter Alex Tagliani had a low-key session and finished 19th in the Sam Schmidt entry.
