Ryan Briscoe has signed up to compete in the 50th running of the Bathurst 1000 next month.
The Australian, who turns 29 today, started the Sandown and Bathurst events back in 2006 but has not appeared in his native touring car series since. Briscoe will join the Bundy Red Racing team for the event.
He will also race in the Surfers Paradise V8 Supercar event, which has attracted a host of international drivers including fellow IndyCar racers Scott Dixon, Dario Franchitti, Will Power and Helio Castroneves. Dixon flew to Australia after last weekend's IndyCar race at Motegi to begin his preparations for Surfers.
"For us international drivers, I think we all want to try and come here and do a good job and help the team you are racing with because it's part of the championship," Dixon said. "So there is a lot of pressure and it's something that you've got to take seriously."
