Germany's Auto Motor und Sport claims Mercedes-Benz is set to buy an ownership stake in Brawn GP, with the deal set to include the cars racing in a silver livery and carrying sponsorship affiliated with the German car maker.
The magazine also claims that approval for Brawn's Mercedes engine deal by McLaren director Martin Whitmarsh – which was required since McLaren is the company's official F1 partner – was opposed by company president Ron Dennis. As a result, it claims, Dennis could even return to direct McLaren's F1 team next year in place of Whitmarsh, now that nemesis Max Mosley has retired as president of the FIA.
