Former GP2 and Formula Renault 3.5 racer Marco Bonanomi will be reserve driver for Audi's Le Mans program this year. The 25-year-old Italian moved to sports cars last season and drove an Audi in the Italian GT championship. He had previously finished second in the final Euro 3000 series in 2009, and was a GP2 Asia race-winner in 2008.
Bonanomi is not scheduled to race for Audi this year, but will be on standby in case any of its Le Mans lineup is sidelined, and will carry out test and development work.
Audi has retained Timo Bernhard, Romain Dumas, Mike Rockenfeller, Marcel Fassler, Andre Lotterer, Benoit Treluyer, Tom Kristensen, Dindo Capello and Allan McNish as its LMP1 race drivers for 2011.
