BMW has revealed the new GT3 race-going version of its Z4 roadster. The car is powered by the M3's 4.0-liter V8, but this is managed by a different ECU and is linked to an uprated 6-speed sequential gearbox. As a result, it has 480hp.

Anti-lock brakes and race wheels are standard. Buyers can opt for air conditioning, which is said to be particularly useful in long-distance races. It will be sold to customers for 298,000 euros ($405,000) and is eligible for international and national championships that run in accordance with GT3 regulations. These include the FIA GT3 European Championship, International GT Open and the ADAC GT Masters. It is also eligible for a variety of 24-hour endurance races.
