Mark Blundell will make a full-time return to racing this year after joining United Autosports for the British GT Championship.
The Formula 1 podium finisher, who also has a Le Mans 24 Hours win and several victories in CART to his name, made the announcement at the AUTOSPORT International motorsports show in England.on Thursday. He will partner Richard Meins in one of a pair of McLaren MP4-12Cs being run by the team in British GT.
"With United Autosports I know I've got a great team," said Blundell. "Richard is a strong driver and we'll go and do the best we can. If we do that, we'll get some good results and get this team to the next step."
Team owner Zak Brown and Alvaro Parente will share the other McLaren while Matt Bell and Mark Patterson will drive the squad's Audi R8 LMS ultra.
Blundell has made a handful of one-off appearances for United Autosports, having driven GT machinery at the Spa 24 Hours and a Grand-Am Daytona Prototype in the Rolex 24 at Daytona during the past couple of seasons.
