Block released from hospitalKen Block and Alex Gelsomino have been released from a hospital following their accident at last night's Rally of Portugal shakedown.

The American crew destroyed their Ford Fiesta RS WRC in the fourth-gear accident, rolling the car five times. They were discharged from a local hospital last night and are already on their way back to America. The car was too badly damaged to make the start of the third World Rally Championship round of the season in Lisbon today.

"Ken's really bummed out that he's unable to compete here in Portugal, but this has been his first really big crash in a World Rally Car, so the main thing is that he's pleased he and Alex are OK," a Monster Ford World Rally Team spokesman said. "They are both 100 percent fine, they went to the hospital because it's better to be safe than sorry. They're heading home now to prepare for the next stop on our tour, which is Rally Argentina."
