Rene Binder will make his GP2 debut at Spa this weekend with the Lazarus team. The 20-year-old Austrian has replaced Venezuelan backmarker Giancarlo Serenelli and will partner Sergio Canamasas at the squad.
Binder currently races in German Formula 3 and lies fifth in the championship. He has also raced in Formula 2 and ADAC Formel Masters since making his race debut in 2009.
Binder's uncle, Hans, made 13 grand prix starts for Ensign, Wolf, Surtees and ATS in 1976-78, while his father, Franz, was a German F3 podium finisher and took the Austrian title in the category in '87.
