Jules BianchiJules Bianchi has been excluded from the first Formula Renault 3.5 race of the season after his car failed post-race scrutineering.

The Ferrari junior driver finished second to race winner Nick Yelloly, but his Tech 1 car was found to contravene the championship's technical regulations due to he use of elastic Belleville washers in the stacking of the car's limited slip differential.

According to the stewards, that put the car in breach of article 19.15 of the sporting and technical regulations, but Bianchi said that Tech 1 intends to appeal the decision.

"Yeah, we appeal," he said. "The team say they have run like this for three years and every time it has been checked it has been fine. So why not now?

"It's a shame. We had a good race, it was close with Nick and we could have won without an small engine problem at the end."

If Tech 1 does make a formal appeal, the results of the race will be suspended until the issue is resolved later in the season.
