BFGoodrich Tires SCCA Super Tour cash prizes announced
Sports Car Club of America Club Racers who have participated in the BFGoodrich Tires SCCA Super Tour this summer have just one event remaining to collect the prizes announced today by SCCA.
On behalf of the BFGoodrich Tires Super Tour, the SCCA is offering cash prizes for the top three point scorers in six individual categories of National class racing. Points for the Super Tour prizes are based on the SCCA SafeRacer National Series point structure, including bonus points. There is no limit to the number of the six BFGoodrich Tires Super Tour events each driver earned points in throughout the season.
The top two point-scoring drivers in each of the six categories will be rewarded with $500, with the third-ranking driver awarded $200. In addition, a prize from BFGoodrich Tires to the top finisher in each category will be announced shortly.
The sixth and final BFGoodrich Tires SCCA Super Tour event takes place at High Plains Raceway near Byers, Colo., July 3.
The six categories are: Small Formula classes (Formula Enterprises, Formula F, Formula Mazda, Formula 500 and Formula Vee); Small Bore (E, F, and H Production, GT-Lite, and Super Touring Under); Big Bore (GT-1, GT-2, and GT3, American Sedan, and Super Touring Over); Spec (Spec Racer Ford, Spec Miata), Touring/SS (Touring 1, 2 and 3, Showroom Stock B and C), and Big Formula and Sports Racing.(Formula Atlantic, Formula 1000, Formula Continental, C and D Sports Racing and Sports 2000). Ties will be broken based on best finishes. If a tie cannot be broken by finishes, a coin toss will determine the order.
Currently, Scott Rettich leads both the Small Formula and Spec categories for his effort in SRF and FE, as do Justin Pritchard (Small Bore), Robert Lenz (Big Bore), Michael Scornavacchi (Touring/SS), and Jacek Mucha (Big Formula/Sports Racing). A full list of BFGoodrich Tires SCCA Super Tour points is available from both the Super Tour and National points pages on SCCA.com.
In addition to the season-long prizes for drivers, five workers and one driver were drawn at random at the BFGoodrich Tires Worker Party at Mid-Ohio, and will be again at High Plains Raceway. Each worker was awarded a $100 prize, while the driver was awarded $1,000. Each must be present at the party at the time of the drawing to win the prize.
The final BFGoodrich Tires SCCA Super Tour event takes place at High Plains Raceway in Byers, Colo. The early registration deadline for those competing is Monday, June 27, at 3 p.m. MDT.
