Scuderia Corsa has added veteran GT driver and five-time ALMS champion Olivier Beretta (at right, LEFT) to its driver lineup for the upcoming Rolex 24 at Daytona. The team, which helped Ferrari win the GT manufacturers title in 2012, will field two of its Ferrari 458 Italia GT3 cars in the Florida enduro.
“I am very happy to have Olivier back with us for Daytona” said team principal Giacomo Mattioli on having Beretta behind the wheel of his No. 63. “His level of experience and success in endurance racing is unsurpassed and makes him a great addition to our team once again. Scuderia Corsa is made up of true competitors, and we plan to give the Daytona fans an exciting race.”
This will be Beretta's third time behind the wheel of the No. 63 Scuderia Corsa. For Daytona, Beretta will join 2012 Ferrari Challenge World Champion Alessandro Balzan, Alessandro Pier Guidi, fresh off his victory at the 6 Hours of Vallelunga, as well as 2010 Open GT champion, Marco Frezza.
The team's second 458 Italia will be raced in association with Brazil's Via Italia team. The No. 64 will be led by Via Italia's Francisco “Chico” Longo, and racing veterans Rafa Matos, Daniel Serra and Xandinho Negrao.
The team will begin testing on January 4 at Daytona International Speedway in preparation for the Rolex 24 At Daytona, considered the preeminent endurance race in motorsports. The race will take place January 26-27, 2013 at the Daytona International Speedway in Daytona Beach, Florida.
