Alvaro Bautista sustained a broken shoulder while training ahead of the French Grand Prix at Le Mans next week.

The Suzuki rider had a fall while riding his motocross bike on Thursday and had to undergo surgery to repair a simple break to the clavicle bone in his shoulder.

Suzuki said the medical team and the rider himself are confident that he will be able to race in France next week, although it may be with some pain and restricted movement.

The team said it has no plans at present to replace Bautista.
