Rubens Barrichello takes another step toward his potential rookie season in the IZOD IndyCar Series with a second test scheduled Feb. 25-26 at Infineon Raceway, the Indianapolis Star reported Monday.

Barrichello, who first tested with the KV Racing Technology team last month at Sebring International Raceway, will test alongside E.J. Viso at Infineon. The Brazilian appears to be on a similar track toward getting a seat much as his friend, countryman and would-be teammate Tony Kanaan did in 2011 for KVRT.

“We're good to go – well, sooner or later we will be,” team co-owner Jimmy Vasser told the Star.

Kanaan was measured when pressed on the topic during Monday's State of IndyCar address.

“We're trying to have him,” Kanaan said. “I told Jimmy, ‘Give him a test.' I knew he'd enjoy it. I'm not popular with Jimmy right now. As a teammate he would – and already has – beat me.”
