Rubens Barrichello has been dropped to 24th on the grid for Sunday's IndyCar race on Detroit's Belle Isle street circuit after switching chassis overnight.
The change evidently was made after the Brazilian, who qualified 20th, told his KV Racing Technology team that he is uncomfortable in his primary chassis.
The penalty was imposed in accordance with Rule 8.1.6.6 of the IndyCar Series rulebook, which outlines the procedure for reassigning a grid position after an original grid position has been disallowed.
