Rubens Barrichello will have to take a five-place grid penalty for the Singapore Grand Prix after his Brawn GP team opted to change his gearbox.
The Brazilian's gearbox suffered torque-stress damage after his near-stall off the line in Belgium, and the team has conducted detailed analysis of it over the past few weeks.
Although the team stuck with the gearbox in Italy two weeks ago ago as Barrichello took his second win of the season, it has been decided that the risk of a failure in Singapore is too much, so a new one will be fitted.
The five-place penalty could dent Barrichello's title challenge, as he bids to close in on the 14-point advantage that team-mate Jenson Button has in the championship standings.
