Stanton BarrettStanton Barrett expects to return to the IndyCar Series next season despite having to hand the 3G seat back to Jaques Lazier at Homestead this weekend due to a lack of sponsorship.

The NASCAR convert contested the first three rounds of the championship before stepping down in favor of Lazier after failing to qualify for the Indianapolis 500 and missing Milwaukee due to a practice crash. Barrett then returned for Motegi last month and planned to complete the season, but could not find the funding for the season finale.

"I was looking forward to racing at Homestead," Barrett said. "I tested there this spring and really liked it, and I was pumped about going back.

"We are all working to find the proper sponsorship for 2010 and, like for many others, that's really going to help with more seat time. Right now, I'm working to see which races I can run next year.

"I had a blast in the races I ran this year and I learned a lot. I can't wait to get behind the wheel again and with as competitive equipment as possible."
