Hector Barbera is set to miss next weekend's MotoGP United States Grand Prix at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca after breaking his left leg in a training accident.
The Pramac Ducati rider had what his team described as a "mishap" while training for the next MotoGP round near his home in Spain on Friday. Barbera sustained breaks to his fibula and shinbone. He will undergo surgery in Barcelona on Sunday morning, with regular MotoGP surgeon Dr. Xavier Mir carrying out the operation. Dr. Mir will estimate the Spaniard's recovery time afterwards.
Pramac said it would not consider potential replacements for Barbera until the operation was complete and a clear prognosis was available.
Barbera's injury comes just a week after he achieved his first MotoGP front row start at Mugello.
