2012 Audi testAudi has begun the first public tests of its 2012 LMP1 car ahead of the new World Endurance Championship.

The team did not reveal any details of the machine, the differences to 2011's R18 or the car's designation at this stage. After conducting initial tests in private, Audi is in action at Sebring, venue for the 2012 WEC opener in March, this weekend.

Two cars are in use, shared between drivers Marcel Fassler, Andre Lotterer, Benoit Treluyer, Dindo Capello, Tom Kristensen and Allan McNish.

Audi won the Le Mans 24 Hours this year with Fassler, Lotterer, and Treluyer, but was beaten to the title by Peugeot in the Intercontinental Le Mans Cup, forerunner of the WEC.
