Spain will host four MotoGP races in the 2010 season after the cancellation of the Hungarian Grand Prix, it was announced on Thursday. The Motorland Aragon round will take place on Sept. 19.
FIM, motorcycling's ruling body, said the Hungarian race will not take place as expected as the construction work of the Balatonring circuit will not be finished on time. The Hungarian round will be replaced by a race at the Motorland Aragon circuit, which was a reserve when the 2010 calendar was announced. The circuit joins Jerez, Valencia and Barcelona as the fourth Spanish track on the calendar.
Hungary was originally scheduled to be on the calendar last year, but it requested its event be rescheduled for 2010.
