NASCAR announced Friday that it has placed Michael Annett, driver of the No. 62 Rusty Wallace Racing entry in the  Nationwide Series, on probation until Dec. 31, 2011.

Annett is facing charges including driving while intoxicated after being involved in a traffic accident last Sunday morning in Mooresville, N.C. He reportedly had a blood alcohol concentration of 0.32. The legal limit in North Carolina is 0.08. The Wallace team indicated that Annett would continue as its driver, but that he would face unspecified sanctions resulting from the incident.

NASCAR said that Annett will be evaluated by a certified substance abuse professional at NASCAR's discretion and will be subject to random alcohol and drug testing.
