Former Champ Car and current NASCAR Canadian Tire Series driver Andrew Ranger will make his NASCAR Sprint Cup Series debut this weekend at Watkins Glen International.

The 24-year-old Canadian is locked into the field, as he will drive the Frank Stoddard-owned No. 32 Fas Lane Racing Ford that currently resides in 33rd position in the top 35 of the Sprint Cup owner points standings.

β€œI am truly overwhelmed that Mr. Stoddard is giving me that great opportunity,” Ranger said. β€œIt's been five years now that I left single-seater racing to undertake a challenging stock car career. To drive in the Sprint Cup series is a dream come true and a huge step I have been seeking for.”

The bulk of Ranger's stock car career has been spent in the Canadian Tire Series, where he captured the 2007 and 2009 series championships. Ranger has made several NASCAR Nationwide Series starts from 2008 through this year, primarily on road courses, since leaving Champ Car after two seasons (2005-'06). He recorded a best result of third in the 2009 Nationwide Series race at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve in Montreal.

In addition, Ranger will compete in his third Nationwide Series event of the season on Saturday. Ranger recorded previous results of sixth at Road America and 28th at New Hampshire Motor Speedway this year.

Terry Labonte, Mike Skinner, Patrick Carpentier, Ken Schrader and Mike Bliss all have driven Stoddard's No. 32 car so far this season.
