P-G Andersson is hoping to return to a Fiesta RS WRC in time for the Rally d'Italia in May.
The Swede, who is contesting this year's Intercontinental Rally Challenge with Proton, led Rally Sweden after the first stage last week, but then put his Fiesta on its side on SS2, went fastest in SS3 and then suffered a puncture and dropped out of contention on SS4.
Andersson's drive was paid for by money raised by more than 400 donations from his fan club. It's money from his supporters which will pay for a possible Italian outing.
"It's been an incredible event of highs and lows," he said. "I couldn't get my brain into gear after everything which happened on the first day. The support has been just incredible. I can't thank them enough and there is some money for another event, so why not Sardinia."
M-Sport managing director Malcolm Wilson said: "I want to support P-G again. He's clearly a very talented and fast driver and I'd like to see him in one of my cars again."
