The No. 1 Peugeot has lost the lead of the Le Mans 24 Hours after Marc Gene had to make an unscheduled pit stop for repairs.
An alternator problem halted 908 that has led the race for more than three hours. Gene brought the car in just three laps after its last pit stop and the team pulled it back into the garage. After frantic work by the Peugeot mechanics, the car was eventually able to rejoin four laps down in seventh place.
Franck Montagny now leads the race in the No. 2 works Peugeot, just over one minute ahead of Olivier Panis in the ORECA 908.
Benoit Treluyer and Mike Rockenfeller are now third and fourth for Audi, while Allan McNish has just left the pits in the No. 7 R15 two laps further back in fifth.
