Fernando Alonso's crashed chassis from Monaco has been declared a total write-off, after examination of the car at Maranello shows it cannot be repaired at all.
The Spaniard crashed at Massenet during Saturday morning's free practice session for the Monaco Grand Prix, with damage to the tub forcing him to skip qualifying and race with a spare car on Sunday.
Although Ferrari had hoped that repairs could be made back at base, closer analysis has shown that the chassis – No 283 – cannot be fixed.
The team will decide in the next week which chassis Alonso and teammate Felipe Massa will have for the next race on the calendar in Turkey.
