Fernando Alonso told Italy's La Gazzetta dello Sport that his much-speculated move to Ferrari for 2010 remains less than a sure thing – although he didn't exactly discount the possibility.

"We can't be sure 100 percent about that yet," the Renault driver told the Italian journal. "There's still work to be done."

Ferrari boss Luca di Montezemolo indicated over the weekend that while Alonso was likely to join his team at some point, it wouldn't necessarily be in 2010. The team is believed to be negotiating with Kimi Raikkonen's agents about a financial settlement that would end his contract one year early. However, the uncertain availability of Felipe Massa, who is still recovering from head injuries suffered at the Hungarian Grand Prix, has put those discussions on the back burner.
