Nick Leason - Team AFM Racing Team AFM is set to miss the next two rounds of the British Touring Car Championship at Oulton Park and Croft.

The cash-strapped team, which runs a BMW 120d for Nick Leason, suffered a disastrous weekend at Donington Park last time out, significant damage being caused to the car on race day after clutch issues has ruled it out of most of the Saturday running.

And now the team has opted to focus on testing the car in order to make it more competitive when the championship resumes after the summer break at Snetterton.

"I hope people understand we are only a very small team with an extremely small budget so we are always working so hard in need of more funding to progress further," said Leason.

"With what happened to us at Donington, this unfortunately has now put us back a few weeks. We need to re-group and pick ourselves up, taking a step back to assess what else needs improving. We are being sensible, even though it has been a very hard decision to take.

"We hope to have the car sorted out by next week, and then do a test session to start honing car set-up. Missing one, or maybe even two races, is not the end of the world when you look at the bigger picture.

Leason, who will definitely miss this weekend's round in Cheshire, has yet to score a point in either the main or independents' championships this year, his best finishes being a pair of 15th places at Brands Hatch and Thruxton.
