The DTM has added an October race at Adria, in Northern Italy to its 2010 calendar, raising the number of events this year to 11.
Following the addition of a street race in Shanghai at the end of November, there would have been a six-week gap between the penultimate and final rounds. Adria has been pushing for a return to the DTM since its last race in 2004, and this year's race will be the first in Italy since Mugello in '08.
Christijan Albers and Mattias Ekstrom won the two previous DTM races at Adria, in '03 and '04. Gary Paffett, Timo Scheider, Martin Tomczyk and Markus Winklehock are the only other drivers on the grid to have raced at the circuit before.
"The hairpins are the most significant points at the track," Tomczyk said. "Here, you have to find the best braking point and then carry as much speed as possible onto the straights."
