Yas Marina circuit boss Richard Cregan has targeted a MotoGP round to boost the racing calendar at the Abu Dhabi track.
The venue currently hosts the Formula 1 season finale, as well as V8 Supercar and World GT1 races, but Cregan wants to secure an early season MotoGP date as well.
"We are speaking to MotoGP because we are hoping that we can bookend the season," the former Toyota F1 team manager said. "Our season is from now until April, so we would hope to have MotoGP coming in sometime in March – twinned with Qatar. We would have F1 on one end and then MotoGP, so with Australian V8s, GP2 and GT1, that is the big one.
"They have agreed that there will be no objections to a second race in the region. We have worked quite closely with MotoGP and Qatar on that."
