Aoyama takes commanding 250cc win at Donington

Hiroshi Aoyama has taken a commanding victory in the 250cc British Grand Prix at a drying Donington Park. The Japanese rider had a perfect race that saw him take the lead within the first lap, open a large gap over the rest of the field despite the changing track conditions causing degradation to the wet tyres everyone was on, then manage his lead in the closing laps.
 

Peka Corvette wins Spa 24 Hours

Hector Barbera snatched pole position from Marco Simoncelli on his very last lap ahead of tomorrow's 250cc British Grand Prix. The Pepe Aprilia rider got within one hundredth of a second of the Gilera rival with just a handful of seconds to go in the 45-minute session at Donington Park, but the Spaniard's last lap of 1m31.802s put him ahead of the Italian by 0.092s

Valentino Rossi said he had not expected to end up on pole position for the British Grand Prix given the tyre problems he encountered earlier in the session. The championship leader struggled to get up to speed on the harder Bridgestone, but found enough pace on soft tyres to beat Dani Pedrosa and Jorge Lorenzo to the top spot. "For me it was a surprise as unfortunately we didn't try the harder tyre this morning," said Rossi.
 

Aspar eyes second bike for 2011

MotoGP's newest team principal, Jorge Martinez, says he wants his Aspar team to expand to a two-rider squad in the premier category by 2011. The team, which will enter a single Ducati in the 2010 MotoGP championship, has been linked to 250cc title contender Alvaro Bautista. Martinez said in a statement on Saturday at Donington Park that he was relieved to have finally bring his MotoGP plans to fruition: "It seems that after three years we are finally able to achieve our dream presenting a MotoGP project.
 

British F3: Buzaid takes first win at Spa

Adriano Buzaid produced a commanding performance in atrocious conditions to claim his maiden British F3 win in a breathless second encounter at Spa today. A heavy downpour delayed the start and reduced the race distance to 11 laps, but the rain was brief and most drivers opted for slick tyres. Brazilian racer Buzaid powered into the lead from his maiden pole position, with points leader Daniel Ricciardo (Carlin) tucking into second.

Simoncelli wins 250cc at the Sachsenring

Marco Simoncelli has won the shortened and delayed 250cc German Grand Prix, after rain interrupted the first start. But it was a short drizzle that left the track dry by the time the 19-lap race was re-started half an hour later, with all riders starting on slick tyres except for Karel Abraham, whose gamble on wets didn't pay off. Gilera's Simoncelli dropped down to third from pole at the start, but Hector Barbera's Pepe Aprilia was soon overtaken on the first lap, after which the Italian made up a small gap to Alex Debon (Blusens Aprilia).
 

Rain interrupts and delays 250cc race

The 250cc German Grand Prix was red-flagged due to rain hitting the Sachsenring circuit while the riders were completing their first lap and will be restarted at 12:45 local time. The starting grid will remain the same as in the original start, but the race will only run for 19 laps rather than the originally-scheduled 29.
