The RACER 21st Anniversary Party at the Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach, presented by the Pirelli World Challenge <world-challenge.com> and co-hosted by our friends at the SCCA <scca.com>, was a rousing success. The festive setting both commemorated the founding of the magazine and officially recognized Ryan Hunter-Reay as the recipient of the RACER of the Year presented by Hawk Performance, as selected by the readers of RACER and RACER.com.

"What began as a shared dream in 1977 with my friend and co-founder, Jeff Zwart, led to our company being founded in December of 1979, related RACER founder and CEO Paul Pfanner to the invited guests. "Our goal was to win the contract to publish SportsCar magazine for the SCCA, with the ultimate hope that we would someday launch a world-class racing magazine for America. RACER finally debuted during the 1992 Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach weekend and, by 1996, was strengthened by the investment and wise counsel of Rob Dyson.

We are also celebrating 30 years of publishing SportsCar magazine for our co-hosts, the Sports Car Club of
America. Thank you to SCCA President Jeff Dahnert for his continued commitment to what has been a remarkable alliance. As the longevity of our relationship proves, the SCCA is a terrific partner and its 40,000 members are the soul of our sport. The Pirelli World Challenge® Championship Series provides drivers, teams, OEMs and aftermarket suppliers a competitive production-based race series in which to prove their products, skills and value. With thunderous standing starts leading to 50 minutes of sprint format competition, the action and excitement is second to none.
Some of the best drivers and teams in the business compete on Pirelli P Zero Racing Slicks. Battling it out for the Drivers', Teams' and Manufacturers' Championships are world-class racers including Johnny O'Connell, Andy Pilgrim, Peter Cunningham, Randy Pobst, Lawson Aschenbach, Jack Baldwin and Bondurant school instructor Andy Lee.
