The Skip Barber Racing School today announced the 14-race schedule for the 2010 BFGoodrich/Skip Barber National Presented by Mazda. This is the 13th year of the Skip Barber National.
In a break from tradition, the 2010 season is tentatively planned to open at Homestead-Miami Speedway with the Rolex Sports Car Series before heading to Sebring International Raceway on the weekend of the famed 12-Hour race. By the time the championship reaches its finale weekend at Road Atlanta as part of the 12th Annual Petit Le Mans, the Skip Barber National will race at Virginia International Raceway, Lime Rock Park, New Jersey Motorsports Park, and a yet to be announced venue – all in support of spectator events, many a part of the most prestigious race weekends in American road racing.
The Skip Barber National is the series that launched the auto racing careers of Marco Andretti, Scott Speed, A.J. Allmendinger, Raphael Matos and Joel Miller, plus dozens of other drivers succeeding in IndyCar, NASCAR, Grand-Am, American Le Mans Series, and the SCCA. Skip Barber National drivers have won at the prestigious Formula Ford Festival and the past two Skip Barber National Champions, Conor Daly and Connor De Phillippi, have won the annual Walter Hayes Trophy.
