TOPEKA, Kan. (Dec. 7, 2004) – SCCA Pro Racing Ltd. announced today the release of four different officially licensed photo books compiled by motorsports photographer John Thawley commemorating the 2004 SCCA SPEED World Challenge GT and Touring Car Championships.
Thawley has created the SCCA Pro Racing’s 2004 SPEED World Challenge Series Yearbook. The 2004 SPEED World Challenge Yearbook features each of the 10 top finishing teams in the drivers’ championship in both the SPEED GT and Touring Car Championships.
Three additional books will focus on individual teams from the SPEED World Challenge series. Choosing from over 25,000 images, Thawley has created a book on each of the Cadillac CTS-V and the Champion-Audi teams from the GT Championship and the Turner Motorsport BMW team from the Touring Car Championship.
“I’m really excited about this project,” stated Thawley. “Utilizing print-on-demand technology, I am able to offer individual books tailored to a specific audience. When I looked back on the year, certain teams really stood out. Audi and Cadillac went down to the wire with their factory-backed teams tied going into the final race of the season. And, Turner Motorsport’s domination of the Touring Car division was amazing. With three cars in the top-10, a drivers’ championship and rookie of the year title, it’s a story that needs to be told and remembered.”
Each book is hardbound and 9”x11” in size. There are 30 pages featuring over 45 full color images. The books will retail for $49.95.
“I’ve been so impressed with the racing in World Challenge,” Thawley continued. “This is a highly competitive series and I wanted to create a book that recorded the teams and their accomplishment of finishing in the top-10. These are hard earned titles.”
“John has put together a wonderful collection of his images commemorating our 2004 Championship contending drivers, with the quality of the book matching the outstanding competition we saw on the track,” SCCA Vice President of Marketing Garret Mudd said. “It’s a must have for true SPEED World Challenge fans.”
The 2004 SPEED World Challenge yearbook is hardbound, 9”x11” in size with 50+ pages and more than 100 full color images. The book retails for $69.95 and can be ordered online directly through www.johnthawley.com.
In addition, teams, fans and readers will be able to order individual prints from the books in sizes from 8x10 to 20x30, also available online.
