Aspar eyes second bike for 2011

MotoGP's newest team principal, Jorge Martinez, says he wants his Aspar team to expand to a two-rider squad in the premier category by 2011. The team, which will enter a single Ducati in the 2010 MotoGP championship, has been linked to 250cc title contender Alvaro Bautista. Martinez said in a statement on Saturday at Donington Park that he was relieved to have finally bring his MotoGP plans to fruition: "It seems that after three years we are finally able to achieve our dream presenting a MotoGP project.
 

British F3: Buzaid takes first win at Spa

Adriano Buzaid produced a commanding performance in atrocious conditions to claim his maiden British F3 win in a breathless second encounter at Spa today. A heavy downpour delayed the start and reduced the race distance to 11 laps, but the rain was brief and most drivers opted for slick tyres. Brazilian racer Buzaid powered into the lead from his maiden pole position, with points leader Daniel Ricciardo (Carlin) tucking into second.

Briton Bradley Smith snatched pole position on his very last lap in 125cc qualifying in front of his home crowd at Donington Park. With time already expired in the 40-minute session held in sunny conditions, the Aspar Aprilia rider managed to stop the clock at 1m37.442s, 0.131 seconds quicker than KTM's Marc Marquez, who had held top spot until then.
